Sweet Tea-Brined Roast Chicken for Sunday Supper

I made sweet tea and drank it over an enormous amount of ice, on the stoop, marveling at how sometimes sweet tea is the best tea, even if you usually drink tea straight, no sugar, with not even a lemon to counter the tannins. Sweet tea is reckless tea, unhealthy tea, a liquid candy bar, not something to drink every day. But it has its place, and I made enough of it so I could use the leftovers as a brine for Millie Peartree’s luscious roast chicken (above). Combine the tea with a big handful of Cajun seasoning and marinate chicken legs in it all day. Baste with the juices and serve with baked sweet potatoes, oh my.

BlackRock's Rick Rieder predicts the Federal Reserve will hike interest rates by a quarter point on Wednesday and then stop. Tuesday kicks off the Fed's two-day meeting, which will culminate in a rate decision announced at 2 p.m. The policy-setting Federal Open Market Committee has been hiking rates since March 2022 in a bid to cool higher prices. "I don't think there's tangible pressure on the U.S. economy," Rieder said. Rieder is confident in the overall market, but he is in the camp that "the economy can move into a technical recession."
The Fed raised its target fed funds rate Wednesday by 75 basis points, or three-quarters of a point, and said it would take into account the lagging impact of higher rates on the economy. In the futures market, traders bet the terminal rate for fed funds would reach 5.09% by May from just over 5% before the meeting. The terminal rate is the level at which the Fed is expected to stop raising interest rates. With Wednesday's hike, the fed funds target rate range is now 3.75% to 4%. Caron said the market is now projecting a rate above the Fed's median target for the terminal rate.

Ultima vizită a fost „memorabilă”, am mâncat atunci un tenderloin steak și kare de vițel, care au fost absolut dezgustătoare, la fel ca atitudinea chelnerului. Recent, am văzut pe pagina de Instagram a localului că a fost schimbat designul sălii principale, noul look fiind semnat de Evghenii Arutin, un nume cunoscut în oraș. Supa servită la OSHO a fost abia călduță, nu avea textura cremoasă la care mă așteptam. Chelnerul mi-a recomandat să încerc un desert nou care nu a fost introdus deocamdată în meniu.
